
Hardcastle’s Yard, now home to Regatta, has a rich history of occupiers and businesses dating from 1787 including painters, stone masons, a slaughterhouse and by the 1920s a motor garage, known as Craven Motor Company.


During this time, they attempted to launch The Craven Car which was the inspiration for the mural painted down the side of the ginnel but unfortunately it never took off.

1922 – Two old shops brought together for the Craven Motor Co. Ginnel to the rear yard far left. This ginnel access was retained in the c1960 rebuilding.
